Today we were surgeons!
We cut apart the two words.
And pieced them together with a band-aid for the apostrophe.
First, we explored solid shapes.
We grouped them according to their attributes.
Next, we went on a shape hunt.
Did you know shapes are everywhere?
We had to look all around the school.
We found all of the shapes on our list.
We looked over our list to make sure we found them all.
Soon we will be making our own web book. Keep looking for them on our class website.
Next, Mrs. Fortenberry surprised us with a shape snack.
Look at all the yummy candy.
It was the most delicious way to learn.
Can you see the shapes?
We had so much fun!
We read the story, Snow Globe Family.

We thought about what it would be like if we lived in a snow globe.

You can't really tell in this picture but we but a glitter glaze over the picture to make it look like it was snowing.
We put them in the hall for the other classes to see.
We combined a study of animals and measurement. First we learned how to measure using non-standard units.
We measured our tables with cubes...
We measured our books with hands....
We measured the white board with cubes...
We recorded all of our data.
We measured our lockers with pencils....
We measured our bookshelves with cubes...
We measured the height of our tables with cubes...
and our feet...
While studying reptiles, we drew a snake.
Then we measured the length and width with cubes.
We had so much fun!
It was amazing how long our snakes were.
This is Mike. He is 85 cubes long and 9 cubes wide.
This is Elvis. He is 72 cubes long and 3 cubes wide.
This is Ed. He is 76 cubes long and 9 cubes wide.
This is Max. He is 97 cubes long and 11 cubes wide.
Measurement is so much fun!

| Back- The Hands of A Child by Amy Ethridge When you look at the hand what do you see? There are just some lines most would agree. But take a closer look this very minute And notice the treasures that are found within it. The hand can be so many things, From tulips to beautiful butterfly wings. A Santa, an apple, even a heart, A pumpkin, an umbrella, that's only a start. The hand can be snowflakes that fall from the sky. The hand can be a leprechaun trying to hide. It can be the sunshine to brighten the day. It can be a fish swimming away. It can be a turkey strutting along, Whatever you make it, you can't go wrong. Just take a little time to look and see, Where these hands came from, And you'll surely agree Your child, the artist, reaching his goal, Created this for you with body and soul. Keep it and use it till the time has past. Then put it away so the memories will last.
