Parent Christmas Presents

Combining calendar skills and handprint art, we came up with a wonderful Christmas present for our parents.

Cover Page-

I know you wipe some away,

But these handprints were made to stay.

So keep them forever, a treasure they'll be.

A special "I Love You", for you from me.

January-

Happy New Year
A year to be glad in,
And not to be sad in,
To gain in, to give in,
A happy new year.
A new year for trying,
And never for sighing,
A new year to live in,
Oh, hold it most dear.

February-

Snowflakes

Snowflakes white

Are dancing down.

Dancing, dancing

All around.

Each one is different,

It's surely true.

Here's one I made

From me for you!

March-

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick's Day is with us,
The day when all that's seen
To right and left and everywhere
Is green, green, green!

April-

Fuzzy Wuzzy Caterpillar

Fuzzy wuzzy caterpillar

Into a corner will creep.

He'll spin himself a blanket

And then go fast asleep.

Fuzzy wuzzy caterpillar

Will wake up by and by.

To find his wings of beauty,

Changed to a butterfly!

May-

Tulips
In the garden
Tulips grow
Straight and golden
In a row.
Each one holds
Its empty cup
Drinking rain
And sunshine up.

June-

The Fish
I hold my fingers
Like a fish,
And wave them
As I go.
See them swimming
With a swish,
So swiftly
To and fro.

July-

The Sun
Over there
The sun gets up,
And marches
All the day.
At noon it stands
Right overhead.
At night
It goes away.

August-

Row, row, row your boat
Gently Down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.

September-

The Apple Tree
Away up high
In the apple tree,
Two red apples
Smiled at me.
I shook the tree
As hard as I could
And down came the apples,
Mmmmm were they good!

October-

There Was An Owl
There was an owl
who lived in an oak.
The more he heard,
the less he spoke;
the less he spoke,
the more he heard-
We all should be
like that wise old bird.

November-

The Turkey
This isn't just a turkey,
As anyone can see.
I made it with my hand,
Which is a part of me.
It comes with lots of love
Especially to say,
I hope you have a very
Happy Thanksgiving Day!

December-

Christmas Angels
Reach for an angel high on a star;
She sends you Christmas wherever you are,
Bringing you laughter and faith so supreme,
Touching your heart with a beautiful dream.

The Hands of A Child

by Amy Ethridge
When you look at the hand what do you see?
There are  just some lines most would agree.
But take a closer look this very minute
And notice the treasures that are found within it.
The hand can be so many things,

From tulips to beautiful butterfly wings.
A Santa, an apple, even a heart,
A pumpkin, an umbrella, that's only a start.
The hand can be snowflakes that fall from the sky.
The hand can be a leprechaun trying to hide.
It can be the sunshine to brighten the day.
It can be a fish swimming away.
It can be a turkey strutting along,
Whatever you make it, you can't go wrong.
Just take a little time to look and see,
Where these hands came from,
And you'll surely agree
Your child, the artist, reaching his goal,
Created this for you with body and soul.
Keep it and use it till the time has past.
Then put it away so the memories will last.

Snowman Handprint Ornament-We attached the following poem:

These aren't just five snowmen
As anyone can see.
I made them with my hand
Which is a part of me.
Now each year when you trim the tree
You'll look back and recall
Christmas of 2011
When my hand was just this small!

Mischievous as can be.

Snowman Soup-We attached the following poem:

  Snowman Soup

Was told you've been real good this year.
Always glad to hear it!
With freezing weather drawing near.
You’ll need to warm the spirit.
 So here's a little Snowman.

Complete with stirring stick.
Add hot water, sip it slow.
It's sure to do the trick.

Reindeer Food-We attached the following poem:

Sprinkle this reindeer food outside tonight.
The moonlight will make it sparkle bright.
As the reindeer fly and roam.

Wes Wyatt visits Paine Primary

Mr. Wyatt told us all about the Fox 6 news station.

We learned about air pressure and clouds.

Air pressure is an important thing to watch when forecasting the weather.

This is a weather balloon. It takes information from the air and helps us predict the weather.

We got to practice telling the weather forecast.

Air is everywhere

We made parachutes. Air is caught under the parachute so it will slowly float down.

Air can move. We played with bubbles and watch them float through the air.

Me made snowflakes. When the air is cold enough, rain can turn to snow. We actually go to see a few snowflakes this week:)

Air can move things. We made balloon rockets and watched them move.

This baggie can helped us keep the balloon from flying crazy all around the room.

We can capture air inside of a balloon. We can see that air takes up space.

We made whirlers.

When we blew on them, they would spin. Air can make things move in different ways.

Thanksgiving Math

One Little, Two Little, Three Little, Indians...
We counted eyes by 2s and then feathers by 4s.

Look at the math we did with our Indians!

Our turkeys have a lot to talk about since they know how to use "Wow Words"!

These turkeys can count by 5s and 10s!
